Frequently Asked Questions
Here you'll find frequently asked questions about the origin, production, and ingredients of our ORO di Parma products. Can't find the answer you're looking for, or would you like to learn more? Feel free to contact our customer service team (verbraucher.service@orodiparma.de).
ORO di Parma products are made in Italy. We use raw materials sourced from Italy’s best tomato-growing regions, which are primarily located in the Parma region. Only the tomatoes used in our ORO di Parma specialties come from southern Italy. Unlike other tomatoes, ours are harvested when fully ripe and processed directly on site. We do not process tomatoes from other countries.
Our farmers in Italy tell us that in recent years, sweeter tomato varieties have been preferred for cultivation, while more tart varieties have been pushed out of the market. The use of less acidic varieties often results in the product lacking the necessary acidity. However, a certain level of acidity is important for maintaining the product’s stability and ensuring food safety. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly necessary to add a very small amount of citric acid to the product. At this time, this additive is not a standard component of our recipes. Nevertheless, we cannot entirely rule out the possibility that citric acid may need to be used in isolated cases and in small quantities if this is technologically necessary. This amount is absolutely imperceptible to the taste. Genetic engineering is not used in the production of citric acid.
The quality of our products is a key feature. To ensure that you can continue to enjoy our products with peace of mind even after opening a package, please note the following: Once a package has been opened, various factors determine its remaining shelf life. Temperature, humidity, and exposure to light play a particularly important role during storage. Since these conditions vary, we cannot provide specific information regarding shelf life after opening. Our tip: Always transfer the remaining contents of an opened package to airtight containers and store them in the refrigerator. We recommend consuming the product within a few days.
